Does Bark Off Work?
One of the big issues that people have when they watch an advertisement for products like Bark Off is whether it is even going to work half as well as it says on the commercial. Can what amounts to an ultrasonic, electronic dog whistle really get your dog to stop, or at least reduce his or her barking frequency and volume? For a lot of dog owners, the answer appears to be yes.
The device apparently works by picking up the frequency of a dog bark, and then sending out its own frequency in response. This takes place at a frequency that humans cannot hear, but gets your dog’s attention in a hurry. This distracts your dog from their barking and gets them to stop for at least a moment. Over time, the idea is that your dog will finally stop barking and will get conditioned to the fact that a bark will equal a whistle and maybe just won’t bother anymore.
